Next Version of Android: F for Froy

Following the line to put the name of a dessert for each version of Mr. Andro Erick Tseng - Senior Product Manager of Android - reported that the next version will be the Froy or frozen yogurt. The staff was betting on Flan for dessert with F.

Only it was not clear whether this will be the version 2.x or 3.x

The current versions are Cupcake (1.5), Donut (1.6) and Eclair (2.0). I'm waiting for version 2.0 for the G1, I hope they can make it run with 192 MB of RAM. This certainly already pledged to Eclair Magic which has versions with 192 and 288 MB of RAM.

Currently I'm using version 1.6 of Android with the ROM Cyanogen Mod 4.2.13 Theme MarksTheme and more, which leaves appeared and functions very similar to what I have seen in 2.0, but some flaws and some plugins are still making me missing .

Navigation Google Maps outside the U.S.

The Google Navigation is a free browser that can do one thing or the Tomtom or Garmin could do so soon, show the path using the photo's own way. This has a browser that uses Street View, the idea is so good that a few hours after the announcement, the shares of both have had falls absurd, 16% (Garmin) and 21% (TomTom).

But Google has caught using the Navigation function in Google Maps Android to anyone outside the U.S., anything that the people at XDA can not solve. They put two versions available for those who want to test this super system, a who has access to Root and another for those without such access.

maps3.3.1-by-directions-no-root-2.apk (2.27 MB) or maps3.3.1-by-directions-root-2.apk (2.27 MB) ( Tip of the android-hilfe.de )

To install the root is more complicated because you need to uninstall and then install the Maps that changed with the commands:

adb remount

adb shell find / system / data-name \ * google \ maps.apk * \ *-o-name-delete Maps.apk

adb uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps

adb install-r-directions maps3.3.1-by-root-2.apk

adb reboot

A version-root installs in one second but the Maps folder (com.google.android.apps.m4ps) or they changed the maps by m4ps. So I installed it this way usually keep updating the maps and the first time they called the Navigation function he asked me to decide what I would use, then scored to remember and always use the m4ps.

Nav Launcher

Navigation ready after we have released Nav Launcher install which is available at the Market, is a simple screen with options to find a destination. Contacts appear only in your Google contacts who have registered address.

Another way to use it directly within the Navigation Maps, where it was possible to construct a route now we can also ask to use the Navigation on Rota.

But things are difficult, in my tests it did not work in Portuguese, but it worked in English and German. Another problem is that Street View is not yet available either here or in Germany and in Brazil, so you can use it only on the map with satellite photos.

I still want to test it some more because without Street View it seems weaker than the CoPilot Live, which despite being expensive has the maps offline.

PS

Personal! get the latest version 4.0 of navigation maps for Brazil. Just install:

For anyone who has root, http://ul.to/cle2zs/maps4.0.0-1.6-brut3.apk

For those who do not have root access, http://ul.to/al55qq/maps4.0.0-1.6-brut3-nonroot.apk (4.0.0)

It's better than the version previously available ... 3.3.0.1. Now you can do the pinch and zoom (zoom with multi touch) and also save as favorites!

How to capture the screen of Android Phones (Printscreen or Screenshot)

snap20091107_190239 snap20091107_190303 I need to reinstall a good part of the programs I have on my phone, and it had to assemble a list of installed applications. I will take to get to the blog, commenting on the best application. To do so must first get a screen capture of Mobile.

I found some ways to do this:

  1. Via SDK taking a cue from site esferaandroid.com or www.simplehelp.net
  2. With the application screenshot-application as found on the site koushikdutta.com
  3. Or with the application ShootMe certainly the most practical way.

With the screenshot-application configures itself one time and then the unit is making images in this period. But the images do ShootMe if the device is shaken for about 5 seconds. Just activate the program and then when you want an image shake the accelerometer device that activates the program, it is possible to listen when the image is made. The images are saved on the SD card in the "ShootMe. An example are the images of this post, click to enlarge.

Synchronizing Outlook with Google Android and caled

Finally an official way to sync Outlook with the company's Google Calendar to my mobile. I've used some programs to do this, but the latter stopped working when the company upgraded to Office 2007.
With the free tool from Google Calendar Sync you can synchronize Outlook with Google Calendar even in Android smartphones (like T-Mobile G1 or HTC Vodafone Magic).
The tool runs on Windows XP and Windows Vista and works with both Outlook 2003 and with 2007. You can download Google Calendar Sync here.
Once you have downloaded the program enters the data with your Google Account and select option 2-Way Sync to sync both accounts.
Tip of the site www.go-android.de

PS As detailed in the post:
Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft responds to warning about bug in the tool is better to upgrade the application, although I have not had problems.

Review HTC Dream (T-Mobile G1) with Google's new mobile Android

thumbnail
Finally launched the new cell phone with Google's Android operating system here in Germany, just months after U.S. release.
For some time I was looking to buy a smartphone, but I did not want to be an iPhone from Apple.
My first impressions are very good, especially with regard to hardware, I can say that:
- It is beautiful, especially the black
- The keyboard is comfortable to type.
- There appears to be very sensitive to risk, alias comes with a plastic protection for the screen and a small bag.
- The screen has almost the same size as the Iphone, missing only a few mm, the resolution is great, and the touch works very well.
- To aid navigation still has the scroll.
- The camera is great, 3.2MP high focus.
- Bluetooth is stereo (I'm going to buy a headset for that)
- The only thing I did not like was the position of the headset, because with them online is bad typing.

But for the new operating system Android I think the numbering is wrong, this version should not be here to 1.1 and yes to (0.alguma thing), has many things that are still unfinished, but will certainly improve a lot in the next months, major flaws:
- Has no way to turn off the internet and it downloads even with no applications running and apparently with the update off.
- No task manager, so it is not possible to know what is running.
- Still does not support bluetooth stereo
- No bookmark in the browser, but Chrome is better than the native Opera.
But some things surprised me, like:
- Integration with my Google account, he brought my calendar and contacts automatically and now I have Gmail contacts who were in the Sim-Card.
- Changing the photo of the contact in Gmail (Web site) that picture appears when the person calling. Directly it is not possible for the picture on contact.
- Quantity of good, free programs in the Android Market.
- Looks very pretty, with transition effects and transparency.
- Very fast in responding to any command.
- Intuitive, but you must learn what changes are made when you click the item and if he keeps clicked, including being able to copy and paste with ease.

For now this is, I test the programs I downloaded and put a resume in the coming days.

Testing the direct posting of G1

This is only a test to see if it is possible, post directly from my new smartphone, the T-Mobile G1 (HTC Dream).
The keyboard is not so bad, but I still need to get used to typing on a keyboard so small.
At least now I have no more excuses for not posting.
